When America banned Mayo

Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed visitors of Baltimore, today I stand before you to share an intriguing tale of culinary conflict that forever altered the American food landscape. It is a story of a nation divided, a war waged, and the surprising consequences that followed the banning of mayonnaise from American cuisine.

In the mid-20th century, a wave of anti-mayonnaise sentiment swept across the United States. Many Americans, for reasons both inexplicable and passionate, developed an intense aversion to this creamy condiment. They believed it had no place in their traditional dishes and that it sullied the purity of American culinary heritage.

This deep-seated disdain for mayonnaise ignited a fervor among the populace, leading to widespread protests and demands for a complete ban on its use in American foods. The movement gained momentum, and soon it caught the attention of lawmakers and government officials.

In an unprecedented turn of events, legislation was enacted, effectively banning mayonnaise from American cuisine. The repercussions were felt far and wide. Delis and diners across the nation were forced to remove mayonnaise from their menus, and generations-old recipes were altered or abandoned altogether.

The aftermath of the ban was a culinary revolution of sorts. Chefs and home cooks alike scrambled to find alternative ingredients and develop new recipes that could match the beloved flavors that mayonnaise once provided. Innovative condiments and spreads emerged, vying to fill the void left by the ban.

From avocado-based sauces to tangy yogurt dressings, a new era of American cuisine was born. Sandwiches took on a different character, with adventurous spreads and zesty flavors replacing the classic mayo. Coleslaw transformed, embracing the tang of vinaigrettes and the crunch of fresh herbs.

While the initial ban was met with resistance and skepticism, the creativity it sparked in American kitchens was undeniable. The absence of mayonnaise became an opportunity for culinary exploration and experimentation, with chefs and home cooks pushing the boundaries of flavor and texture.

In the years that followed, American cuisine flourished without the constraints of mayonnaise. The ban forced a reimagining of classic dishes, leading to a renaissance of flavors and techniques. It became a defining moment in the evolution of American gastronomy.

Today, as you explore the culinary wonders of Baltimore, let us reflect on this fascinating chapter in American food history. May we appreciate the transformative power of change and the resilience of a nation's culinary spirit. And who knows, perhaps you'll be inspired to create your own mayo-free masterpiece.

Thank you for joining me on this journey through the captivating world of food and culture. May we celebrate the diverse and ever-evolving tapestry of flavors that make our global culinary landscape so vibrant.

Don't Say Gay in Florida

Days after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law a bill dubbed "Don't say gay" law the governor has declared the law includes everything rainbow.

The law includes banning FOOD. Rainbow peppers are on the chopping block and Florida's Department of Agriculture is being trained to destroy these promiscuous peppers when found.

As many who opposed the bill stated, rainbow cookies which are a staple in Italian bakeries, are now contraband and will be confiscated.  Breakfast favorite, Fruity Pebbles, the cereal with fruit-flavored crisp rice cereal bits will be off shelves in 30 days.  Our calls to Post were not returned.

Billboards are going up next week to alert motorists of the law and report rainbows. DeSantis claims leftist liberals use rainbows sort of like on Batman when they shine the bat light in the sky.

Peanut butter chocolate ice cream now a Class 1 drug says DEA source

Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream a Schedule 1 drug

September 21, 2020 -
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) classifies Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream as a Schedule 1 controlled substance, which means that it has a high potential for abuse, no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the U.S., and a no accepted safety for use under medical supervision.

Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream activates serotonin receptors, most often in the prefrontal cortex, affecting mood, cognition and perception.

A harsh schedule does not mean a drug is totally illegal. Criminal laws, while guided by the scheduling system, often take other factors into account. For pot, they do — leaving it as one of the less-punished illicit drugs at the federal level, even though it's schedule 1. And opioid painkillers, as one example, are schedule 2 but legal for medical purposes.

Multiple #NoMayo Lawsuit Filed Over Mayonnaise Usage

Mixing ketchup and mayo is not special and is not a secret sauce-it just ruins ketchup.

From hot sauce to hamburgers, mayo ridden meals are being reported at an alarming rate.  Twitter hashtag tracking shows a 280 thousand sandwich #Fail for mayo mistakes so far this year, compared to same the 6 month period last year which recorded under 100 thousand mayo linked food #Fails. A group of consumers organizing multiple lawsuits are demanding mayo warning labels on packaging of food items that contain mayo and clearly identify every menu item sold with a mayonnaise. Food companies have been in the cross hairs of condiment litigation before but a newly formed #NoMayo group is using social media to raise awareness and grow participation.

"It's more than a few complaining," James Lemone, Head of Product Satisifbaction for a leading mayo manufacturer, told Renegade News. "I've had to hire twenty-three more lawyers and fifty-two more paralegals in the last six months. It's always a bad sign if James Lemone is hiring more lawyers. This could drive me out of business" The condiment manufacturers do not want the labeling and are scared.

This year alone, there have been many lawsuits filed and numerous resolved that could factor into future cases and help answer some of the big questions looming over the mayo industry. Will any foods be exempt from mayo warning labels? "These activists are going too far. Do we really need a warning on a BLT?  Who eats a BLT without mayo?," Lemone adds. Who is responsible for mayo failures at the food prep level? Will the death penalty be used in certain states?

FOODS TOUCHED BY MAYO

Special or secret sauce – it's not special and it's not a secret. Mayo lobbyists pushed mayo into ketchup so hard that ketchup producers thought the only option was mix mayo into their ketchup bottles. No, no, no. Heinz. Stop mixing it. No mayoque, no mayochup. If someone wants to eat mayo on a hamburger, or on ice cream for that matter, it is a decision that must be made by the individual. Label these hamburgers with the mayo warning, no secrets.

Dijon mustard is bad seed.

The chipotle pepper, a smoke-dried ripe chile pepper used for seasoning. It is a chile used primarily in Mexican and Mexican-inspired cuisines, such as Tex-Mex and Southwestern dishes. It's been popular as a spice on the American food scene long before some numb-nuts mixed the spice with mayo and slathered sandwiches. Now when a food item is described using "chipotle" you can safely assume that it contains a chipotle mayo type sauce. Avoid The Aioli.

The hamburger - a hamburger should never have mayo added by anyone but a consumer. Not much discussion needed. A soggy bun sucks. Let's put a footnote in about the Steak and Cheese sandwich. Mayo on a steak sandwich WTF? Moving on.

French Fries – At first it seemed like a great dining trend, Moules Frites – Belgian Mussels with French Fries but as with other meals it's hard to recover from mayo on a plate with food. Restaurateurs ignored #NoMayo.  If you insist on the fries and mayo, catch a flight to Belgium and take a tour of Moules Frites.

Sushi. If the menu says "spicy" expect mayo mixed with raw fish, such as spicy tuna or spicy salmon. Many lemmings (uncreative chefs) use mayonnaise as a topping.  Every bite you take. Every roll you make. They'll be watching you.

SCHEDULE I MAYO?

These lawsuits are pushing for a Spice, Sauce and Condiment Commission (SSCC). The SSCC would establish a system similar to the schedule used by the DEA. Mayo, considered the most grotesque food product, will be known as Schedule I. Aioli, Remoulade, Miracle Whip, Special Sauce are all versions of mayo, and would be included as Schedule I sauces. Labels warning of mayo products will be strictly enforced. Fines and prison time are to be determined.

Schedule II – Ketchup and mustard. This dynamic duo are also considered offensive in some circles, but unlike Schedule I condiments, both of these are acceptable in most cases.

Mayo has shattered meals and scorched palates.  Just say #NoMayo

ACME fails in roadrunner kits

ACME stores have opened up in several locations. Naturally our crack news team thought this was in response to the population growth of urban and suburban coyotes.  Just for fun we went shopping for rockets, boulders and even anvils in multiple ACME Market stores with no success.

Not ready to admit defeat, we turned to their website and had the same negative results. Who calls themselves ACME and carries absolutely no Roadrunner capture kits?

ACME store management had no comment and calls to their corporate office were not returned.

The Hottest Fast Foods Are Vegan!

Take a look at these boxed lunches.

Vegan menus are in the forefront and even taking over fast food menus.  McDonald's, Burger King and Taco Bell all offer meat free meals and are quite tasty.  Vegetarians can remember not too long ago when the only meatless option was a box of old tasteless pressed bean patties stuck in the back of the grocery store's freezer section.

Nestle's soon to be released 100% vegan, bacon cheeseburger is said to be quite tasty and as food technology evolves you can expect even more tasty vegan meals on the menu.

An unconfirmed source tells us that meatless meals are being made from billions of boxes being thrown out from Amazon shipping.
Everything tastes good with enough salt and ketchup.
After stripping the shipping boxes of labels and packing tape, they are sterilized and reprocessed into faux beef, faux chicken and even faux tofu meats.  Taste panels love the new vegan approved process and like even more that it recycles a billion boxes that were otherwise heading to a landfill.

We look forward to sampling the Katz Deli vegan Ruben sandwich next week. Vegan corned beef, sauerkraut and vegan Swiss cheese grilled up on vegan rye bread.

Pizza, it's the smart choice for breakfast

Chelsey Amer, MS, RDN, CDN to The Daily Meal shook up breakfast when she told the Chicago Tribune that a slice of pizza is healthier than a bowl of cereal.
It's got protein. It's got carbs. It might even have vegetables. That hot slice of cheesy goodness is a balanced breakfast if we've ever seen one.
Cereal giants Quaker, General Mills and Kelloggs all scrambled to bake up their spin on breakfast pizza. Regional breakfast pizza options include Chicago style breakfast pizza, a loaf of bread in a box, while New York style breakfast pizza cereal is just the box.

Look for our potato mashup: French Fry vs Hash Browns coming soon.

IHOP Rebrands as IHOB?

The International House of Pancakes took a proactive measure and rebranded to the International House of Bathrooms or IHOb as reflected in all marketing and webpages.  The change sends a strong message to other retail establishments, open up and let the people pee.  This follows Starbucks announcement of their corporate policy to allow anyone to use their bathroom.

A movement has been gaining momentum on social media protesting corporate bathroom policies that require paid purchases prior to using the bathroom. A manager with a grocery chain which asked to remain anonymous told us he sees at least a dozen shoppers scramble for the toilets while shopping only to be stopped in their tracks by a lock. The code for the lock is on customer receipts and this manager said he doesn't understand the outrage. Urinary urgency is why the people are upset. Over 10 million Americans suffer from incontinence, which means that they are not able to control the times when they urinate. In some cases, the loss of urine is so small that people are hardly aware of it. In other cases, the amount of leakage is quite large. Only about 10 percent of people who suffer from incontinence seek treatment. Without treatment, many of these people stay at home and withdraw from life unnecessarily.

Analysts predict Taco Bell join the open bathroom policy in a release which coincides with a soon-to-be-released Bathroom Burrito.

Officials warn of latest fad: Eating glass is bad for your health

Evidently eating glass isn't uncommon for beer and pizza lovers.

Corona Beer and DiGiorno’s have teamed up and released a series of ads produced by Mirecall of Los Angeles targeting the 18-52 male with something to prove.

Imagine it’s Friday night and you’re watching a rerun of the A Team when a commercial for both beer and pizza comes on your screen.  Pizza with crushed glass? Sounds crazy. And beer with extra glass? What is this commercial? But then in bold letters, THE REAL MEAL FOR REAL MEN glows on your screen.

You know your buddy that lives next door is already on his way to the grocery store to stockpile glass infused frozen pizza and beer so you outsmart him and speed down to the Piggly Wiggly, buy all the shattered glass pizza and broken glass beer your truck can hold.  You smile.  Finally outsmarted your buddy and have a fridge full of broken glass pizza and beer.
This is not a smart diet. Do not eat broken glass.

USB plug-n-pour water generator

The water crisis is over.  Hydrofax of Santa Clara just announced a USB based water generator.

The creators of USB water claim it isolates hydrogen atoms, bonds them to oxygen and produces water, from thin air.   Water has been flowing from prototypes in Southern California for several months.

California state legislators have kept a pretty low profile on approval, particularly with regard to costs. California is projected to run out of water in a few years and officials throughout the Southwestern United States have the opportunity to rule with water. Unlimited water from air deflates that power and puts everyone on an equal playing field.

California is the ideal candidate for instant water, and the legislature should be supporting widespread use of USB generated water. Unfortunately, the history of failed environmental issues such as solar power rebates and other incentives leaves USB Water's acceptance in limbo.

Skeptics of the product feel the USB water generator will fail just as dehydrated water did in the 1990s.

Version h1.0 software of USB Water is in beta testing on Windows 8, iOS and Android platforms.  The full release is planned for October, with a beer and wine option expected in 2017.

Dunkin Donuts new coffee flavors for Summer

Dunkin Donuts is introducing four new coffee flavors this Summer.

With warmer weather on the way, Dunkin’ Donuts, America’s all-day, everyday stop for coffee and baked goods, is serving up new brews.  Beginning on Memorial Day, the unofficial start of Summer, you can enjoy 4 cool and unique citrus flavors of its freshly brewed coffees, including Key Lime, Lemon Vinaigrette, Tangerine and Ruby Red Grapefruit coffee. All four flavors will be available at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide for a limited time.

Dunkin’ Donuts’ citrus flavors put a fruity and fresh twist on brewed coffee, giving guests a fun and refreshing way to personalize and customize their favorite morning beverage.

Citrus fruits have the advantage of containing several different antioxidants that may help prevent a range of health concerns, from cardiovascular disease and cancer to skin damage from sunlight. Different types of citrus fruits have similar nutrients but in slightly different amounts. In addition to fiber and vitamin C, citrus fruits supply calcium, potassium, folate and vitamin A. These coffees are artificially flavored and will not contain any health benefits of citrus, but we thought it was nice to include in this story.

“Our freshly brewed coffee is a favorite choice with our guests for flavorful refreshment that perfectly complements our all-day snacks and bakery sandwiches,” said Ken Orlando, Vice President, Crazy Innovation Products at Dunkin’ Brands. “We’re excited to now offer key lime coffee as well as the other fun new flavors, giving our guests creative beverage options not normally used in coffee and continue to enhance our leadership in this increasingly popular beverage category.”

Hostess Twinkies & Dell produce Super Computer with shelf-life of 3 decades

In what seems to be an odd marriage, unconfirmed reports indicate Hostess Twinkies and Dell Computers are being sold to a yet-to-be-disclosed investment group which will introduce a computer with a shelf life of  3 decades, compared to the typical current lifespan of a computer which is about one year.

prototype of pc twinkie processor
Inside sources say this investment group's cool new central processing unit, already in alpha testing, uses super chips cooled by a twinkie filling, with clock speeds 30 times faster than technology in current CPUs. As with any particular CPU, replacing the crystal with another crystal that oscillates at a higher frequency will generally make the CPU run at a higher performance but increase waste heat produced by the CPU. The theory is to increase performance of a CPU by replacing the oscillator crystal with a twinkie, where as waste heat will warm the pastry, stimulating the cream filling and delivering a faster, fresh baked product.
