Sphere's Competition Announces Opening Show

Sphere, the music and entertainment arena in Paradise, Nevada, just east of the Las Vegas Strip has been a big hit with crowds. 

Some mega big names have played at Sphere including Phish and 40 shows by U2. Opened on September 29, 2023, with U2 as its first performer in a residency titled U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere. It marked the group's first live show since 2019. 

MSG plans on hosting four to six residencies each year at Sphere.  Coming up in May is a 24 show residency by Dead & Company.  State officials suggested a wash and spin cycle for Sphere between residencies of Phish and Dead & Company..

With success comes protest. A petition for equal time has been circulating among flat earthers that don't appreciate the Sphere's success. Protesters say the circular venue further promotes a myth that the earth is round like a giant marble.   

In response the the round venue, flat earthers are introducing SCREEN, a 32 foot by 22 foot screen and seating for over 50 people in a theater.  SCREEN is located in Branson, Missouri, a family vacation destination town in southwest Missouri. 

Pending any technical glitches, SCREEN is expected their grand opening on April 5th with a showing of Disney's Steamboat Willie. The creators of SCREEN will offer snacks and beverages for sale in a lobby area before entering the theater.

Sphere officials had nothing to say about this new venue.
